DALLAS, Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Going green has become a priority for the
public and private sector throughout the nation. Technologies being developed
throughout North Texas are helping businesses cut costs while also helping
them be energy savvy. Attendees at the Dallas Regional Chamber's Technology
Business Council's Sustainable Technology Issue Forum, scheduled on August 26,
will have the opportunity to interact with experts to discuss these
progressive technologies.
This event falls in the middle of "Sustainability Week" proclaimed by two
North Texas cities. Dallas and Denton have taken the initiative to highlight
the importance of "going green" and are recognizing organizations, such as the
Dallas Regional Chamber, whose efforts contribute to the growth of the
sustainable technologies industry in North Texas.
The Chamber's Issue Forum will feature speakers sharing their insight and
experiences during an interactive luncheon and afternoon panel sessions.
Topics include: energy management solutions, financial investment
opportunities, and legislative and legal strategies for a carbon cap and trade
system.
"Renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable building practices
give companies the ability to move from an 'energy dependent' state to a new
level of 'energy independence,'" said Cindy Thyfault, President, Westar Trade
Resources and Chair of the Chamber's Sustainable Technologies Committee. "The
Sustainable Technologies Issue Forum will provide amazing opportunities for
executives that will allow them to develop timely strategies for new business
opportunities, carbon cap and trade legislation, and energy-saving
technologies."
The half-day forum and reception will include two keynote presentations by
pioneers in the renewable resources industry. Michael Walsh, Executive Vice
President of the Chicago Climate Exchange will give the luncheon keynote on
how carbon cap and trade is profitable for businesses. Christiana Wyly, an
environmental entrepreneur and founding investor and inspiration for Green
Mountain Energy Company, will discuss green entrepreneurialism and the
importance of nurturing growing businesses in the industry.
Additional panelists include executives from Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP,
Green Mountain Energy Company, Oncor Electric Delivery, Texas Workforce
Commission, Trane Commercial Systems, U.S. Department of Energy and U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency.
The event will be held Tuesday, August 26, at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel
(400 Crescent Court, Dallas, Texas 75201) from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The
cost to attend the half-day forum is $75 for Technology Business Council
Investors, $85 for Chamber Members, and $105 for Non-Members. Table
