PITTSBURGH, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Westinghouse Electric Company today
announced sponsorship of a grant for Middle and High Schools focusing on
science, technology or mathematics through a proposed hands-on project with
students.
Administered through the company's speaker's bureau, N-Vision, the grant
is designed to encourage both teachers and students to think of a creative
project based on energy, math, science, or technology in the context of
worldwide political, economic and environmental realities.
The contest is open to all U.S. middle and high schools in areas where
Westinghouse has a presence. Five middle or high schools will be awarded
$1,000 each to carryout their proposed project. Projects need to involve
students directly and incorporate community resources, interdisciplinary or
team-teaching principles.
Specific guidelines, eligibility requirements and an application for the
contest can be found on the Westinghouse website at:

Teachers and schools are encouraged to complete their project proposals and
submit them by October 20, 2008.
